Writer's Contest Winners Speak
I don't know who won the individual categories but I know that we had a lot of good entries and the winners will again read theirs at our luncheon. This is a tradition with the SSA who has set up the contest to encourage writing in a variety of categories. We received 234 entries in the four categories: short stories, memoirs, personal essays, and poetry. There were so many wonderful submissions that selecting winners was not easy. First, Second, and Third place finishers, along with the Honorable Mentions, will be published in the Society's 1999 Anthology, The Storyteller (the authors will retain all rights after this). An alphabetical list of special commendations will also appear in The Storyteller.
Please come to our Awards Luncheon on Sunday, September 19th at 11:30 a.m. to help us honor the winners and hear their stories. The Storyteller will be available for $10.00 a copy. Please call our guest hotline at 546-9382 to confirm your reservation (make sure you let us know which luncheon you are making reservations for - Elaine Romero in August or Writer's Awards in September). |
